I think most internet users have drifted through Tumblr at some point either blogging or lurking. It was once quite the mature viewer playground and that notoriety overshadowed some superb content unfortunately. I’m not being prudish, folks can post and view what they wish, but that more explicit side of the social network became the focus above some great fine art blogs, fan fiction that regularly outshone the fandoms they were based on as Hollywood ran out of ideas, design blogs with everything from houses to gardens to celebrating everyday objects we take for granted.
As a motorcycle fan and admirer of cars from bygone eras there’s some wonderfully curated blogs still ticking over showcasing machines to die for, and it’s great to see even after the adult stuff got clumsily purged in a hammer blow by numbskull cooperations thinking they could just buy ‘social’ and treat everyone on it like garbage with no backlash… sounds like that Tesla guy’s latest idiocy hoping that spending $44 billion will buy him love 💔😭🤪.
That purge almost killed off Tumblr but geeks and nerds are made of strong stuff and they rekindled the embers and it’s still going as well as picking up new and returning Twitter refugees like myself.
I’m still just lurking there enjoying the content and if you are looking for somewhere easier to use than Mastodon give it a shot, if nothing else it’s a feast for the eyes! 😊
